The controls.

The Inspector. Pick a Look and an Intensity, then go as deep as you like. Here: New Picture Bleed on Brushstroke, as in Resolve.
Mosh Starts: At cuts in the clip. The new shot’s keyframe never arrives, so its motion drags the old picture until it breaks through.
Break-up · Drip: columns of the picture run down like wet paint.
Every look in Light, Standard and Heavy. Here: Wet Paint.

When it melts

Mosh Starts at the start of the clip, At cuts in the clip, or where you keyframe Mosh Switch. At a cut the new shot’s keyframe never arrives; Melt Length sets when it is back.

How it breaks

Break-up: Drip runs columns of the picture down like wet paint. Shards crack it into glass that jumps and smears. Holes burn through where the picture moves and tear along the motion.

How the codec fails

Codec: New Picture Bleed sets how much of the new shot ghosts through the old one; Quantisation, Low Bitrate and Bitstream Errors starve the picture. Melt Where and eleven Blend modes choose where it shows.

FAQ.

Do I need to export AVI files and delete frames?

No. MELT does the datamosh inside Resolve, on the GPU: put it on an adjustment clip over a cut, or on a clip, and keyframe it like any other effect. The same frame always renders the same.

Which version of DaVinci Resolve do I need?

DaVinci Resolve 20 or later, on macOS. Check the system requirements before installing. View requirements

Which Resolve pages can I use?

Use the plugins in Edit, Cut, Color and Fusion. Find them under Effects → OpenFX → Paperwolf Studio.

How do I install the plugins?

Install Paperwolf Studio, then install the plugins from the app’s Library. Quit Resolve before installation and reopen it when finished. After purchase, paste your licence key into the app’s Account section.

Who handles the payment?

Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record, handles checkout and payment and issues your licence key. The Studio app uses the key to activate your Mac.

Is there a subscription?

You can buy a perpetual licence (2 computers, free updates forever) or subscribe to the Full Suite yearly or monthly. A subscription gives every Full Suite plugin and its updates while it runs; access ends when the subscription does.

Is there a trial?

Yes, with no time limit. Without a licence every plugin works fully, with a Paperwolf watermark on the image. Buying a licence removes the watermark.

Do I need to be online?

To download, to activate, and at least once every 30 days so the Studio app can renew the licence in the background. The licence is tied to your Mac and the plugins check it offline. If a Mac stays offline longer, the plugins show the watermark until it reconnects.

Do prices include VAT? What about refunds?

Prices shown exclude VAT; it is calculated and added at checkout, handled by Lemon Squeezy. Except where the law provides otherwise, all sales are final: before checkout you ask for immediate access and acknowledge that this ends the right of withdrawal for digital content. So try everything first: the trial has every feature. Your rights if a product doesn’t work as described are not affected. Terms & Conditions.
